• Projects under Thrust/Emerging Areas:
  1. The department had got one Nationally Coordinated Project from AICTE of total amount of Rs. 38.50 lacs out of which the Institute share is 6.5 lacs. This is being coordinated by one of the departmental faculty member Er. A.K. Shukla as the Principal Investigator in the area of Transportation Engineering. The Project has been completed and is in the stage of submission to AICTE.
  2. The department has got one more Nationally Coordinated project from AICTE with total amount of Rs. 35 lacs out of which the Institute share is 7 lacs. This is again being coordinated by Er. A.K. Shukla as Principal Investigator in the field of Transportation Engineering.
  3. The department has also completed one AICTE project in the field of Geo-Technical Engineering under the Principal investigator-ship of Prof. R.B. Singh, Ex-Director, IT-BHU for the amount below 10 lacs.

• Department organized a national workshop on "Environmental pollution: Persepective and Practices" on 30 April 2004 under the sponsorship of AICTE,UP Pollution Control Board, UP TEchincal University and others. The programme was organized by Sh.A.K.Shukla and Sh.S.P.Shukla,faculty members of the department. People from various govt. and other organizations including teaching institutions participated. About 30 research papers were received and discussed in the workshop.Proceeding of the workshop was also published.

Collaborative Programs

• With Other Institutions:
  The department is planning to collaborate with Central Water Commission for the purpose of installing Piezometer for field measurement in fluctuation of ground water level in Lucknow city.
  The department is also in process of collaboration with the UP Samaj Kalyan Construction Corporation Limited in the technical know-how area.
• With National Research Laboratories:
  Many of the faculty members closely cooperate with Central Drug Research Institute (CSIR Lab) and Indian Toxicology Research Institute in the area related to Environmental Engineering and Vehicular Pollution.
• Staff Development Programmes for Teachers of other Institutions.
• The Department is going to start part time B.Tech. Programme from the session 2004-2005.

Contribution to Curriculum Development

The departmental faculty members viz Prof. J.B.Srivastava, Dr. S.P.Sharma & Dr. M.Z.Khan are members of the Board of Studies (Syllabus Committee) for the Civil Engineering courses constituted by the UP Technical University. Needless to specify that this syllabus is to be implemented uniformly to all the Colleges/Institutions affiliated to the UP Technical University in the State of Uttar Pradesh.
